Default AOD going out????

Every once in a blue moon my AOD, from the shift from 3rd into OD under very light throttle, hesitates to go into overdrive. It sounds like it is bogging almost. What I do to stop it is put it back in drive and put it back into OD and it just goes into OD fine. Like I said it happened like 3 weeks ago and it happened again yesterday. I really wouldn't doubt that my tranny is goin out but I was just wondering if anyone has had any similar problems or knows what is going on.

idk but what you can do is rop your tranny pan and see if they are any metal sahvings in it. in All fords, any kind of metal shaving is a bad sign, but on chevys thats a diff story.. chevy's alwyas have that wear because the band always rubs against the forward drum.

he wont see metal in the pan. he will see a sludge material. Junior dont let AODs with shift kits in OD unless youre on the highway cruising. leave it in D to you need to put it in OD. OD bands are junk in AODs. trust me ive fried a few AODs in my life

yes ive read that and actually got that from the company that did my tranny. its safe insurance. not that great on gas but helps prolong the OD band.

AODs only last 100-120k miles usually, so im pretty sure yours has likely already been rebuilt by now or it's holding up a lot longer than normal.

It's probably holding out longer than others, maybe I should consider a hi-po rebuild with a stall or somethin.

well depends on the rpm youre crusing at. 65 seems like a highway speed so OD is good. OD bands cant take the power of a stock motor rather alone a modded one
