Hood Allignment. 88' Mustang GT Convertible
I just got a fiberglass hood for my car and before i took my original off and fitted the new one to the car. i marked where the bolts were located when the original hood was on. I made sure the new one fit then i went to put the original back on. I put the bolts in where i had marked them but when i went to close the hood it was aligned wrong on both sides.. I toyed with it for about an hour and gave up. i have about a 3/8in gap on the right side of the hood and barely any space at all on the left.. it closes but when i open it again it rubs.. can anyone help me with this? give me advice on how to move it over so its even on both sides? its aligned fine along the cowl but not along the fenders

I thought the stock hood had an adjustment on it to go side to side in that year. On a fiberglass hood there is not a side to side adjustment. You have to knotch the hinge on a glass hood to make that adjustment. Check and see if your stock hood has provisions to do that.

The way i read your thread you have no choice but to closely open up the side to side movement on slots in hood to get the proper alignment. Shouldn't be to hard can be done with a file. Take a look at Ohio Chapter we have a meet coming up May20th.......hope to see you there.
