I know that this thread doesn't belong here but i need help fast. i got a 1999 mustang 3.8 and the T5 tranny that came with the car is giving out....2nd gear pops out when shifting into...i'm going to overhaul it into a Z spec...but i have an uncle that has a spare 3.8 T5 tranny from a 94 or 95 stang. Are they interchangeable WITHOUT modifying anything?

I know this belongs in the 94-04 V6 forum but no one there seems to answer or have knowledge about this.

Hmm... I'm digging a bit. Although chances are good that they're the exact same thing mechanically, just the sensors will need swapping.

I'm searching as well and looks like the difference is the input shaft. One is 7.85 and the other is 7.18. Pilot diameter is the same. from what i've been able to find via google.

I can probably fit the one I currently have in my 89 mustang since I'm tearing it apart for a full restoration. But yet again it might not be an exact fit.

Mattdel...no need for further research...direct swap with the exception of needing to swap tranny tail end due to the OSS vs the VSS on older tranny
