Never driven or been in a car with 390. The 373 are a happy medium, lots of people have them, but to be honest it's all preference. If your a fast/good shifter, or you plan on putting a 6-speed in soon, go with the 410's that extra gear will help out with closer gears. Like I said though most people notice a significant differnce and they have a happy medium between DD and track driving, with the 373. If you drive around town more than once or twice a week, and aren't at the track 20 times a year, go with the 373's you'll be more than happy. Also have you dont any decent burnouts? If you haven't... well actually you'll want to go ahead and replace them anyway, buy a trak-lok kit along with your gears there $45 bucks, and if they never have been replaced they will soon so you might as well do it now, you gotta take them out when you do your gears anyhow. if you don't know trak lok is basically what makes both of your tires spin, not just your passenger side. If your looking for a place to buy gears and trak lok, at the cheapest price go to 50resto.com I got both things for $194 plus shipping, i think it was like $25-30

I got 3:73s in mine. No disadvantages really.......you have to shift sooner, but its quite a bit faster like .4 or .5 and they are good for the freeway. At 80mph its at about 2600 rpm so you can still take long trips.

3.73's are a good all around gear for a manual stang. I would not go with anything higher unless your future combo requires it.
