Default shift kit

Hey guys I got a few questions. I am thinking of adding a shift kit to my automatic 95. I am looking into a transgo. my question is I have seen some kits with just springs some with just plates and another with both what is the difference of these and what is the best to go with. also how do I know what kind of transmission I have is it a AODE? My car is a 95 GT 5.0. Thanks!

As far as I have ever heard most shift kits tell you to replace the springs when you do the plates, springs alone won't make the difference as far as I know. If you already have it torn apart might as well do everything.
