MY top motor was completely dead with the bad brushes. They had worm down so far that they did not make the connection to the commutator pat of the armature. Motor still works to this day!

Got a used one for 75 and put it in. It's slow bit it works. I am thinking it needs to be bled. Step 2. So far so good

slow + used motor, does not usually = bleed = worn motor

The new motor seems fine. Thanks to all of your help everyone. I'll keep the older motor as a backup and try to figure out how to take the brushes out for the fun of it.
