Problems with 2nd on T-5s
Yes I used plural T-5s meaning more than one, so I figure I am doing something wrong. I have had two different T-5s one out of a Fox that I changed the input shaft for it to work and the other out of a 96 V-6 model. I am going into a 94 5.0 GT and both of these transmissions had issues shifting especially when trying to get into 2nd. The Fox was grinding bad when you let out the clutch and wouldn't go into the gear enough to not grind and hold. The other will go into 2nd but then nothing, like it is in Neutral and no movement at all with the clutch out. This one also makes a very loud whining noise in 1st and 3rd gears. I did change the T/O bearing and retainer on both using a Ford Racing retainer and ceterforce bearing. That is really the only thing that is common on both transmissions. I am wondering if I may have put in the throw out bearing backwards and if so could this potentially cause these symptoms?

Yes I have been but it is strange to have two different models even of T-5s that have the same issue after installing them. I am going to pull the last one I put in and go with one that just has a vibrating issue at higher speeds for now and have the 1996 one rebuilt, to have a warranty.
Then swap the rebuilt one with the vibrating one and have it built for racing, It is a SN-95 T-5 and I still have the original on that came with the car, but reverse gear is complete shredded, already have it apart and will rebuild it as soon as I get one running right in the mustang. I am going to 'beef' it up and ultimately put it back in as it is the OEM T-5 and I want to keep it original Motor and tranny.
