CAM - Depending on your gearing, the biggest cam i would run with those heads is a comp xe268h. it has a moderate lope at idle. the xe274h is sort of radical in a 347 with any heads and is a very popular choice fir those that want big hp and noise etc. best with 3.23 - 3.50 gears.

the xe262h is an xlnt choice for good bottom and lower mid range, mild lope at idle. best with 3.00 - 3.43 gears.

STALL CONVERTER - A mild 2000 - 2400 is recommended.
the bolded above is the only semi decent recommendation........the rest is not even close to the mark for a well performing 347/stroker combo.............

My suggestions are based upon your current set up and the comment that you are not going to buy new heads and upon many years of high performance engine building and from extensive experience with ford stroker engines and the line of cams from comp. They are only suggestions and others may vary.

you might also benefit from a custom made cam but they cost a bit more.

Save more funds until spring. You do not want to bolt on any stock parts on a 347 or 331.

The headers, the heads, the intake, none of that.

If you want an appetizer, get you a cheap 75 shot wet nitrous kit to hold you off.

He already has heads intake and carb. If he goes 302 he just needs a short block.

Plus its going in his 66 an I don't think he wants to convert all that over to fuel injection.

I ordered a 331 with a forged assembly. I am putting in a http://www.summitracing.com/search?keyword=35-310-8 cam and using my 170cc trick flow heads. I am having them pocket ported as well including port matched to my stealth intake. I will keep my new 670 street avenger carb and I am using a 10:1 piston
I know the heads are a little small that is why I chose the cam I did. It should have a ton of low end power and pull hard until about 5800rpm. I am going to break it in and play with it a bit then add a novi root style supercharger with 6-8 pounds of boost.
I figured if I boost it a little I will no longer be limited by a smaller head flow, at this time I may add a larger carb as well.
