Ford 7.5 > 8.8 swap
I'm in the process of prepping a 87gt's 8.8 rear axle to go into my LS swapped 4cyl 92 notch.
I have one bad axle shaft that needs replacing in the 8.8, I'm under the impression that the axle shafts for both rear ends are the same. Can anyone confirm this?
Also are the drum brake assemblies the same? It'd save some work to be able to carry these over from my 7.5

Axles are the same. But the brakes could be different measure them. the mustangs did come with 2 different size brake setups. I know most have never seen it, but I do have a set that are bigger. I even told the guy at the parts counter one day he was nuts. when I got home and guess what. they were different

It's a 2008 model carbed and cammed aluminum block 5.3 (LC9) from a silverado. Needless to say it runs pretty darn strong. The poor 7.5 with. 4.10 gears and a peg leg doesn't STAND A CHANCE of having anything resembling traction. For your viewing pleasure.
On the axle it's a 87 8.8 from a GT parts car I inherited. I just got finished re stacking the LSD with new clutches and one extra fiber (she's tight) . It's a 2.73 rear that I'm regearing to 3.27 it's getting all new seals, bearings, crush sleeve eliminator the works.

Back to the original topic. The brakes and the axles were the same in my case. Between the two cars I managed to come up with a pair of serviceable if not great axles.
