Where to start with non-working 92 5.0 cruise control?

Where to start with non-working 92 5.0 cruise control?
Won't work at all. I have NO IDEA how it works, or how to trouble shoot it, or where to start. I suck at electrical too....With some advice, I can probably figure it out...
Any help would be greatly appriciated! I don't have money to pay someone to fix it, as I am saving to have hail pulled out of it and a new coat of red to be shot on it this summer....
