I have a 95 gt with an automatic and I have a chance to pick up a running 302 and good transmission out of a 1992 crown vic for a good price. will the transmission interchange?

 

I believe the crown vic used a 4R70w trans. It will work in your car as its been done before , I even think the 95 pcm will communicate with the trans, but the plug is different and youll need to find a pin out digram of each trans to make it work.

 

95's used an aode.......unless crown vic has that, not sure it'll work

 

Got this info from Wikipedia. (So take it with a grain of salt). According to them the 92 crown Vic had an AOD transmission. 94-95 mustangs used the AODE. They also state that the AOD uses a shift linkage where the AODE uses electric solenoid a to shift the transmission and are not interchangeable. They say you can use the stronger gear sets from a 4R70w in an AOD.

 

Blue, this is what I have heard since I was on here to update. I am planning on going ahead and picking up the motor and trans any way just to start building the 5.0 for my ranger.... Thanks for the info guys
