Default Shift Kit or Gears

I have a friend who owns a 95 GT. Car is stock with the exception of 3.55 gears and trans go shift kit. About 2 months after installing those mods his tranny "blew up" . Just wondering what you guys think did it . The gears ? the shift kit ? or the tranny was just ready to go? Because of his experience I am now second guessing doing the same mods. Arent shifts kits better for tranny's ? I was thinking the gears caused it because of all the stop and go traffic and constant shifting. My cars a 94 Gt I have 135 000 km he had 123 000 km on his car when it blew.

i couldn't tell u about the shift kit, but rear gears won't screw up a tranny like that. so, scratch that off the list

For the most part shift kits do help. If it went it could have just been time, or it was a driving issue. I forget, the 94-95 comes with the AODE, right?

Here is what your engine did to my 200,000+mile tranny...
