positive battery cable

Default positive battery cable

I disconnected the alternator I disconnected the starter but when I hook my battery up the positive wire still get some really hot what should I do

The heat is because you have a bad connection at the battery. If you clean your battery post and the inside of the connector-then tighten it down, it will not over heat. A battery post brush will do both in a minute or less, they cost about $5.00 .
