AOD to T5 speedo gear

AOD to T5 speedo gear
I had my auto trans swapped for a T5 in my 94 GT. After that the speedo and odometer are off about 20%. I figured out from this site that I need a different speedo gear. My question is do I also need to change the speedo drive gear? Also, is there a way to tell which rear end gear I have in my car? As far as I know everything is stock...except for the trans now.
Thanks,
Tony

Welcome to the site, go to "Latemodel Restoration", they'll have the little gear you need depending on your rear axle ratio.
Which you can check by putting the rear of the car up on stands, put tranny in neutral, then slide under the car and rotate driveshaft 1 rotation counting how many times the rear tires rotate. Example : driveshaft. 1 rotation......... Wheel 3 1/2 rotations = 3:55 gear ratio.
Did I get that backwards, it's been a long day. You'll figure it out. I'm going to take a nap.

IIRC, the T5 had a 7t drive gear, and the AODE is 8 tooth. You need to either swap your driven gear to match, or remove the tailshaft housing and change the drive gear.
The ford racing catalog shows which gears you need.
