Handheld tuners for 94-95 mustangs
I'm having trouble finding information about these things. My 5.0 has gt40p heads and a tfs stage 1 cam, and a cold air intake, along with fresh rings and all that business. My car for sure needs a tune now. So if i'm going that route, I need a chip AND a tuner? And when you buy a tuner, the company asks you your mods so they can put their custom tune on it?
The nearest dyno shop is about 100 miles away and charge around $600, so for that much I should just buy one myself.
anyone here had any experience with these things? I've heard a lot of good things like giving 30 lbs of torque to a stock motor.
also kind of new here, if i'm doing something wrong please do tell

What is your car doing that you think it's not running right exactly. I know the SN computer's are a little more finicky, but still should adapt to your mods to a point. Maybe we can save you that $600......
Have you pulled codes to see if any are thrown or stored ?

I've pulled codes before and it doesn't tell anything out of the usual, just things about my smog, egr and all the other crap that is out.
My car spikes in rpm every time I shift. Instead of steadily going up in rpm it kind of makes jumps. It also wont start worth a crap but that could be something else.

Spikes in RPM with every shift, do you mean when disengaging the clutch, the rpms spike, if so, how many RPM does it jump. Then does it come right back down ?
Or do you mean evertime you upshift into the higher gear, you get a surge or bucking when slight throttle is applied ?

It spikes every time when I shift. If I let off the gas and wait a whole 2 seconds it will only spike like 150 rpm. If I dont wait at all it'll spike about 450. It happens as soon as i start pushing in the clutch. I've literally looked everywhere on the internet about this and found nothing.
Thats why I'm assuming it's a computer thing

If never heard of this personally, maybe someone else will chime in here with some thoughts, as I'm not that familiar with the SN cars. It doesn't sound like it's a tune issue to me. I'd maybe check the clutch switch by the pedals for a loose connection or damaged wire grounding out temporarily.
