Default Overdrive Shift Problem

i have a 93 5.0 lx. i was woundering if anyone has had any experience with their AOD not wanting to shift into OD. when im cruising it feels as if my trans will go into neutral. so then i have to put shifter in D3 selection to drive. i have been told the clutch pack is bad and also fords AODs are notorious for the AOD shift solinoid going bad. help plz

i'm guessing it's time for a rebuild. something may have happened to the clutches or the valve body.

Its actually probably your OD band. It happened to me so your tranny is fine it just cant shift into overdrive so thats why it just rev's like its in nuetral. If you want to take off your valve body and replace the OD servo with a "C" servo. you probably have an A Or B which arent as strong as they should be or you can buy a kevlar OD band and replace em. I just bought i stronger tranny but thats alot more expensive.

You shouldn't smell anything did you take off your pan and look at the fluid or how did you check the fluid?
