Default A few questions before I build

Hello and thanks for the help in advance! I'm going to start an engine build on my 91 GT convertible. I lucked up and found a set of X302 heads for a great price and I'm pretty sure my cam will be an Anderson N-41. I want to leave my engine fuel injected and I was wondering what size MAF, injectors and throttle body would be good for this build? I don't have an intake but, I've bought a running 5.0 from a 1999 Mountaineer. Will the intake work as an upgrade on my fox? Will I have to get a re-program on my computer?
Again, thanks for the advice!!!

Size of MAF and throttle body is personal preference. Neither will offer any seat of the pants improvement. Just make sure to size the throttle body smaller than the MAF.

You'll be plenty safe with 24lbs injectors, but even the stock 19's would still be fine depending on future mods.

No tune needed if your car is in well maintained condition. The stock computer with adapt to the mods rather well. A tune will get every last HP if you need it.

That intake is a popular upgrade to a stock Fox intake.

Just out of curiosity, what gears are you running in the rearend ?

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it a lot! As for the rear end I'm running 3.73 gears. Also, it was an AOD and I've done a T5 swap.

Excellent choice, T5 swap was the biggest improvement to my car when I did it.

Just out of curiosity, what are your plans for the car ? Daily driver, weekend cruiser, strip/track car ?

I agree, the T-5 swap was a great improvement! The car is mostly a weekend cruiser but, I want to get the HP bumped up a bit. Its mainly stock except a CAI and MSD billet distributor. With the mods I'm going to do to it, I would like to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 340-360HP to the wheels when I get it complete. I've done some research and I should be able to get close to those numbers. With the X302 heads and the GT40 intake I've got, I just need to upgrade my TB, MAF, cam, injectors and headers. I should be able to tell a definite change in her attitude after all of that! LOL

I think your HP goals are alittle to high for the mods you listed. You'd need 400-430 at the crank on a NA 302. That's going to get real expensive to get those #'s and be reliable. Not saying it can't be done, just expensive.

I'd build for boost if your looking for those numbers at the wheels.

Good luck and keep us posted....

Thanks for the advice! So, what do you think the actual HP numbers would be with the build I'm looking to do?

Maybe 280 - 300 at the wheels. And that might be alittle generous. Part selection is critical, do your research. Everything has to work together to get the most out of it.

I'd use the search feature here on this forum and dig up old build threads. See what works and what doesn't. And what the final outcome was usually. You'll be reading for days.

Good luck
