Hi Y'all!
Though this series of messages is on an automatic w/overdrive, the manual says that the T-5 uses Mercon ATF as well. Just wondered if anyone had suggestions on diff fluids (5w50 syn for example) vs the ATF. Seems to light weight for the application.

the t-5 isn't like an engine as there really isn't a ton of heat in the t-5 to break down the fluid

If you have an AODE with 168 thousand miles on it, its days are numbered. As far as your downshifting problem, can you elaborate more on it? I can't emphasize enough how important your transmission fluid is. It is the blood of your tranny, and it will live or die by it. In addition, the only way your going to benefit from a transmission band aid (lucas, C-foam) is if your seals are deteriorating.

if you put a heavy fluid in a T-5 you wont be able to shift it..
