Default Rear disc brake conversion

I have a 1984 Mustang with a 1987 or 1988 mustang gt 8.8 rear end, with 1991 Ranger axles in my shop. The customer wants me to convert to disc brakes. I have looked all over and cannot find much anything that looks like it will work.

I have been dealing with this for quite awhile.

Can anybody help, I am totally at a loss.

The 5 lug conversion was done long before I got to the car in.

SO, it was converted to 5-lug already.

There are tutorials all over the place, but search YAHOO or GOOGLE for "1984 Mustang rear disc conversion".
You should get plenty of results, and it is also here in the forums somewhere...

If you click the link at the bottom then scroll down to the brake conversion section,you'll find some info you need.Im a little confused though,since you mentioned its converted already or did you mean the front brakes
are converted to 5 lug already,but the rear is still 4 lug?? If it's the latter & the Ranger axles/Foxbody rearend are just lying around your shop,the axles havent been ​​​​installed in the rearend yet (as well as a​​​​​​ll the other parts needed for the conversion) and the rearend hasnt been installed in the car yet,the info in the link should help quite a bit.

The 94-95 Mustang is probably the most common vehicle that people acquire the parts from when doing this swap,except for the 94-95 Mustang axles which are 3/4 inch longer than Ranger axles.If 94-95 Mustang axles are used,the rims/tires will stick out by that amount,possibly causing tire to body
contact depending on the backspace/offset
of your rims and tire width/height.Its much
better to use the Ranger axles unless you want the additional width that a longer axle would offer.
*** IMPORTANT ***
If you are gonna use 5 lug Ranger axles,make sure to use the driver side axles only as the passenger side axles are a different length on a Ranger.This info is talked about in the

Thanks for the help guys. The customer decided to go with different rear axles that keep the Fox stock width and allow for 94 rear disc parts. It was originally converted to 5 lug drums with ranger axles, but they wanted disc on the rear, actually previously paid for it but it wasn't done. Seems they took the money and ran. Again, thanks for responding with the helpful info. If have any problems moving forward, I will be back. Lol

Thanks for clearing that up man.I knew there were only a few conversions possible,but didn't know which one.

(Rear 4 Lug Drum To)
4 Lug Disk
5 Lug Drum
5 Lug Disk

However In Your Case
(Rear 5 Lug Drum To)
5 Lug Disk

If you haven't done so already,measure both Ranger axles before you slide them into the rearend housing.I believe Foxbody axles are 29 5/32" long,so the Ranger axles should be this same length.It's important to measure them because the Ranger passenger axle is longer than the driver side axle & the driver side axle
is the one you need to use in the Foxbody rearend to retain the Foxbody track width. Therefore make sure youve got two driver side
Ranger axles that match the Foxbody axle length.
