Primed oil has air
New stock 302 engine with double roller and "towing Cam". Replacing 347 I ran for three years. It's cam is wearing so I took it out of the car.
Plans are to rebuild the 347 in a couple of years and find an 86 Mustang Hatchback or Convertible for the 347.
Presently.
When I use the drill to run oil pump and hose connected to the oil pressure sending hole it pumps oil as a stream out the hose. But after a while it becomes mixed with air and spits.
I understand air entering the pump and pickup screen. I am running and HV pump and Scott Drake from sump pickup and baffled 6 qt. pan.
This is the same set up I used in the 347. Just use the old and new pump and pick up screen.
My question is can the intake galley plug when leaking or popped out produce air coming out of the hose set up I am using.
Can a problem with the galley plug that far back from the pressure output produce air in the oil steam?
Other comments?
