Rearend, gears and installation?

RE: Rearend, gears and installation?
many people will say 3.55s for a 5 speed and 3.73s for auto. 4.10s with an auto are probably okay, but with a 5 speed it will struggle. 4.6s like lower gears, 5.0s really dont, unless they're built to handle it. Lower is not always better.
schwind, thanks for the compliment.

RE: Rearend, gears and installation?
Thanks to all of you for the responses, as i said before, my car is my daily driver and wont see any 1/4 mile tracks but will see some highway time. I dont want gearing that will have me running 5k rpm's at 80 mph in 5th gear, just enough gear to give it a bit more of a kick red light to red light... 3:55's still sound like the best bet for what ill be doing with it daily.
Anyone know, if i were to find some used gears, what i will have to look for... any particular type of vehicle rearend or are they universal for the most part?
