is the typhoon intake worth buying to save a couple hundred dollars i was looking at the polished one

Id go with the cobra intake looks so much cooler and i think performs the same2

i second that. they both perform about the same but the cobra intake looks alot better. it comes down to witch one you think looks better. i personally would rather have the cobra

how much horse is one of those supposed to give with a throttle body attached to if you know

I'd expect about a 20-25 rear wheel gain with an intake and throttle body combo. I can offer you special deals on the package if you'd like. To answer your question, yes, you can port and polish them very easily. They have a removeable top cover for easy access to the top runners, and there is plenty of meat to port them. A cobra intake is old news,and the eldys twin brother will make more power then the cobra after very little port work...

they have a little extra cast flashing inside. you can knock that in no time and it will flow good bit more on top end then the cobra.
