Default Rear end grease w/ metal fillings

Hey I took my rear end cover off (because it was makeing a loud howling) and drained all the oil and it looks really gritty, like it has metal files in it and it is black. I dont think the black matters but something must have broken. Anyone else have this problem?

Default RE: Rear end grease w/ metal fillings

Yeah just before my spyder gears blew out the rear cover on my Trans Am. Shavings in a read are bad news, I would be saving up for a rebuild starting now!
