Default Car is still possessed...

https://mustangforums.com/fb.asp?m=809028

Yep car is still shutting off. I have replaced ignition coil, cap and rotor, tfi(dizzy), and checked the wiring. The car now has a burning smell after everytime it cuts off. It smells like a burning wire but we cant find the wire. I found in a MM&FF magazine (January 2003) a guy with a 95 gt with the same problem. The guys in the magazine directed him to fuel system. What exactly should i look out for? Any help is greatly apprciated.

does it flat out die or does it chug like its running out of gas?? this might sound crazy but start checking the main ground staps (the flat braided ones) had a old dodge truck doing the same thing and that was the cause.

to check if it is grounds you could set up some temp grounds. run a bunch of wireson the neg. terminal on your battery and run the other ends all over the place.

Fuel ? Usually a burning smell has to do with electricals.

I notice you are running a modified engine (347ci) What mods are done to the top end ? For instance what intake system are you using ? Stock ? Edlebrock ? etc. Without knowledge of your mods it could be anywheres in the the air/fuel intake control systems (EGR, TPS, IAC, fuel pump, etc.) This are the only places where electrical and fuel items are mixed.

Are you EFI ? If so look at the IAC, the EGR, and other items around the Throttle body. See if you can locate where the 'smell' is coming from. This may give you a clue as to the source of the problem.

I had the same problem and it ended up being the fuel pump relay underneath the drivers seat. Stick your nose under there and take a good wiff, if its strong you knoe what to do.

Thanks for all the advice, but i found the problem. Bad positive cable leading to the ignition coil. I was letting the engine idle and it just cut off in front of all of my uncles mechanics. One second it was shooting current and the next it wasnt. Redid the wiring and let it idle for 45min and ran her up and down the road and so far so good. Took forver to find the proble. Glad i got it fixed, now i can drive in peace. Thanks for all the help guys.
