They help by stiffening up the drivetrain, especially compared to worn out, marshmallowey stock mounts. They are not very difficult to replace with common tools. In summary, you just need to support the motor while swapping them. You can do this with a jack and a board under the oil pan.

I think a twist/crank jack would be good for this as you probaly need to lower the engine down with a little precision to make sure the bolts line up. What do you think?

It wouldn't hurt, but you can be pretty exact with a floor jack if you're slow enough lowering it down. You really don't need to lift the motor much, just enough to support it. Then you can swap them out relatively easily.

I think after I get my tires, suspension and gears that would be a good addition. What do you guys think? I got 171K miles.
