Default RE: Valve springs

ORIGINAL: JD1969

Then get a stock spring, the cam and valve springs are meant to match. With a stock cam there is no need to rev the engine very high and stiffer springs will not help you.

Not true. Stock 5.0 springs, even GT-40/Cobra springs are pretty weak and generally need to be upgraded even with stock rockers and cam. Pretty well junk right from the factory. P heads also had weaker springs than GT-40's, more like a stock E7 head spring.

I would suggest the Crane kit # 44308-1 for most street cars with up to around .530" lift and below 6500 rpm's. They fit the stock heads, come with locks and retainers and last a decent amount of time. I think the kit is about $120 or so at summit.
