Vibrates at high RPMs
Hey everyone, I just did a tranny rebuild and replaced the clutch and had the flywheel resurfaced. Driveshaft was rebuilt with new universal joints and balanced. Now, before doing all this my car shook at about 1500 rpms and then cleared up a bit. Come to find out the my tranny mount was cracked down one side. I replaced that too with a stiffer one from summit. Problem is now the car shakes violently above 4000 rpms. Could this be from the stiffness of the tranny mount or could something be horribly offbalance? I dont think it is possible to put the flywheel on incorrectly as the bolt holes are unsymmetrical. If im wrong please let me know. I need to get this problem fixed. The car also misses from a bad fuel injector i think. Could this also make the car vibrate? Im going to replace all the fuel injectors soon. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
just put the bellhousing back on. Thought dowel pins keep it in the middle. Didn't do anything special to center it. It shakes badly when driving but it also shakes just reving it.
Sounds like a bad harmonic balancer...check and see if the rubber is pushing out on the back side of it...and you better get it fixed very soon cause engine vibrations can become costly..
thanks guys...i was thinkin harmonic balancer too...im gonna check that out soon and hopefully that solves all my problems. Can't have it shaking like that. I'll replace the injectors too. Oh yeah and is it possible to put the flywheel on wrong? I don't think it is. Thanks
My car also shakes at 3500-4000 rpm and it seems as if it gets better after that but when its stopped and i rev it up it sounds fine, it dont smoke but smells a little rich. I was also thinking it was the harmonic balancer or something cuz when i turn it off it sounds nasty like it knocks as it shuts off. Well thats the motor in taking out but these last couple of years ive put it through some crazy burnouts at car shows hoping the motor would give but its still going. Thats pretty much was it good for now, just sounds strong but not for racing. when i do my swap ill tear it apart and see what the problem was.
