ORIGINAL: ricepatrol

hey topless, it asks for tire size, that would be including your sidewall.
Correcty me if I'm wrong guys;
Stock tires on my stock 15" wheels (87 GT) are 225/60/15
that means a 60mm sidewall.
multiply that by 2= 120 mm of sidewall.
according to my calc. that's an additional 4.72 inches.
Add 4.72 + my 15" rim and I get 19.72 total height.

To do is yourself, my calc. says the conversion factor is
1 mm= .0393701 inches
so your sidewall height, then times 2, then times .0393701.
add this to your rim size and your set.

Hope this sheds some insight.

This is actualyl VERY incorrect. A 225/60/15 has an overall diameter of 25.6"

the "60" in your tire size is NOT 60mm. its a percentage of the tread width of the tire. in this case being 225mm

so although your math is correct, your variables are not.

225
100 = 2.25

2.25*60= 135mm

(135mm*2)/25.4 = 10.629927

~10.6+15= 25.6"

(i used to sell tires)

*edit* changed formatting a lil bit
i figured is add this too
my rear tires are 275/40/17

275
100 = 2.75

2.75*40= 110mm

(110mm*2)/25.4 = 8.661422

~8.6+17= 25.6"

so im even rockin the same size tires (overall)

Your new fomula should be

Section width divided by 100.
multiplied by the sidewall height number (your tires. 60. mine 40)
multiply this number by 2, divide by 25.4
add Rim height and you have your overall tire diameter

((((W/100)*H)*2)/25.4)+R <--- for you math nerds!! (remember your order of operations)
