Default EGR Removal?

Hey, Im going to remove the Smog pump and blank off the EGR system on my 94GT. Will this effect the running of my car cause the ECU is looking for the EGR system that isn't there?

Thanks, Mark.

Your going to have to block it off w/ something. They sell an eliminator kit on ebay that basically tricks the computer to thinking that its still there. Do some ebay searching.

an EGR blockoff plate is cheap

if i remember correctly, if you remove the EGR tubes off of the back of your heads, there will be an exhaust leak at those holes, a spark plug with the porcelain broken off should plug the holes right nicely.

Yea, they make a plug that you can put right back there. I actually wen to a local speed shop to order a block off plate and they told me that they do not make them anymore? They said that they changed the laws and they cannot make them and he has been making sheetmetal plates that hes bolting to the back to block it off? Is this true?

I took a decent gauged metal plate and made my own.

I don't have to. Not in Wisconsin. To get your 02 readings up for smog you're going to need a pump.
