i just recently bought a 1983 Gt...it has no spark..so when i opened the hood to start seeing why..i noticed it had a HEI GM cap on it..with the coil that sits on top of the cap. i took the control module out of it..went to the parts store they told me it was a GM part.. is it possible to change over a frod dist. to HEI>.im boggled
First of all, where's the distributor located on your engine? Front or back...need to get this straight to make sure you really don't have a Chevy engine in there.
thanks for the info...any ideas where to start with the spark problem?..already replaced coil and control module..still nothing..it has power to the coil..but nothing at the plugs

One thing to check would be the pick-up coil...you can use a DVOM to check the coil's resistance, it should be in the 500-1500ohms range and, that it's not shorted to ground within the dizzy. LUK
ok...i have replaced the pick up coil, the control module...still no fire...i have a question..should i show power on the pick up side of the module?...i show power on the inlet side..but not on the side that connects to the pick up!!! and also would a rotor make it have no spark?
