Default Idle question

A lot of time when I drive my car, when I let off of the gas and have the car in neutral it stay above 1000 rpms. After a few seconds if fianlly comes down to the normal idle mark. I asked a mechanic about it and he told me something about a Throttle Positioning sensor, that you can adjust with a screw driver. THanks for any help you can give me on this.

Its the black thing on top of the throttle body with 2 wires going to it. Its held down with 2 screws. You can stick a pin in it and use a volt meter i think it is and put it on it until you get between .98 and .99 i think it is. You move the black thing aruond until you get it in between the .98 and .99.

Default RE: Idle question

If you want to check if there's an issue with the TPS, I would run a KOEO self-test first, to confirm that you have a problem indeed. If you want to check the TPS calibration setting, do this DIY procedure. Regarding your observation on the idle when shifting gears, the EEC is getting the message that the car is in motion (speed sensor input) which, will cause idle to be a little higher during shifts, that, is considered normal "idle behavior".
