Default Strange fume leak

Well I just got my car, its a 93 GT and its my first car. The guy who sold it to me said the valve cover gaskets are leaking, but not bad, its just oil residue on the outside. But once my car warms up, it has this strange smell, im guessing from the oil being burned, and on my left side in the back of the header, a little blue smoke is noticeable. This wont hurt my engine will it? Im working like crazy to pay for my car and I have no time to fix the covers right now, how long can i go safely with slight leaking valve covers? Like i said theres no thick oil, its just residue. Thanks

as long as you keep oil in the motor, it should be fine but it will continue to get worse...

You don't have 30 minutes on a Saturday to replace the Valve cover gaskets?

Your oil light comes on when your car is a quart low...running a quart low won't hurt, but if the car was designed to run a quart low they would have made it take one less quart. The second thing is, who wants burnt oil all over everything on the sides of their motor? And yeah, burning oil STINKS.

At oil prices today, the oil you are going to put in that thing over the next month....would have paid for the valve cover gaskets.

^^ Agree, 30 minutes is pretty fast. I would say more like 1 1/2 hours with everything. Still not alot though, just not 1/2 hour.

Well the guy gave me brand new gaskets, So I have them. I just dont have the experience to pull off my manifold and stuff. Thats basically why I dont want to do it myself, Because i'd like to have someone there that could tell me if i was doing it right and what not. But my friend might help me. I just dont know when. Thanks for the info
