I have a 90 5.0 LX that has been giving off a gas smell lately. It only happens if I take it over 4K RPM and goes away after I let off the pedal. It doesnt studder or have any other problems, just the smell of gas past 4K. Would there be a leak somewhere?

possibly, id check your hoses, and it could be what kind of exhaust you have, what do you have?

check around the fuel injectors....possibly a worn o ring

it still has the stock exhaust. Entire car is stock.

you shouldnt be smelling fuel then, i have offroad h-pipes i live in louisiana and dont have all that smog emission crap, so i can smell fuel but thats only because its straight pipes. no cats.

yea check your o rings on the injectors, my 88 did that when i got it, also when you put them back in, put a lil oil on your finger and wipe it on the o rings so they seal right. and napa sells rebuild kits, with the o rings and the lil spacer and i think it is called the pental cap on the end of the injector.

maybe his sensor too, pumping too much fuel when he revs it
