Going to a 306?
Alright...I know the basic concepts of a 306...and that it's mainly just boring it .030 over.. BUT...if one were to go about boring a 302 into a 306...what all would be involved? Would I have to buy new pistons and such? Or what... Also...is it actually Worth making it into a 306? or just a waste of time, effort, and money? How much would somethin like this cost? And would I just take it to a machine shop? or what...to get it done... Thanks

You are going to have a machine shop bore and hone the block and like you said, you will need new pistons and rings. it only makes senee If you are going
to rebuild a new motor. And at that point, I would jump up to a 331.

I would stick to just doing the .030 over. Going to a 331 is going to cost a hell of lot more. Summit has a great kit that comes with hyper pistons, all the bearings, gasket kit and an oil pump for a little less than 300.00.

Never a good idea to make the change to a 306 unless you are already in the engine for building, the power gain is not worth it. The change to a 306 is just to get the cyliners back to proper finish and size with oversized pistons.
The decision to change to a 331 or 347 has to be weighed against your power goals, use of power adders and budget.
