engine bogging down when gas t
I recently bought a stock 93 5.0 automatic. I put in new plugs, cap, rotor, and wires, and ever since I finished this, Every time I put the peddle to the floor, it bogs out, backfires, it feels like the fuel is cut off... It happens at any rpm its not like its a rev limiter. I bought a mac 70mm throttle body, egr spacer, 73mm mass air meter, new cone, and underdrive pullys. I have yet to put these in because I want it to run properly first. Now heres the twist, My problem goes away when I unplug the tps. so I bought a new tps and that doesnt fix my problem... All my buddies are stumped, any suggestions?

this could be a long shot but what about your throttle positioner sensor, it could be getting stuck and when u hit the throttle it bogs because of the gas flow? maybe, try puttin a new one on, their on top of the throttle body and are an easy 2 screws and a connector to install. good luck

I have already replaced the throttle position sensor, and it didnt fix my problem, what does fix it is when I unplug the sensor, the bogging out goes away, yet it doesnt idle well due to the tps being unplugged... any other suggestions?

check and make sure the plug wires are on in the correct order. When I bought my 1980 5.0 it was doing the same thing so I messed with the timing and that did'nt fix it so I checked all my wires and two of them were in the wrong spot.

SOOOO ironic becuase half the reason I registered on this board was to discuss this same exact problem. I'm having the same issue with my 93lx, if you put the pedal down halfway it seems fine, but the minute you floor it, bogs down. It hasn't backfired, but it "feels" like it could if the problem was in a little more advanced state. Thanks for posting the problem jlattanz and thanks for the suggestions guys.

i'd check the fuel pressure and the fuel filter. Try blowing air through the filter and see if you feel anything on the other side. I just had a problem very similar to this on somebody else's car and it was the fuel filter.
