Daily Driving and winter
I am looking at a 1989 Mustang it will be my first car I still have my learners for a while yet, but I figure I might as well get used to the car im going to drive when I get my lisence now. This is what the ad says for the car I will be calling about it tomorrow: auto, excellent cond., 373 gears, racing cam, headers, new dual exhaust from manifold back, flowmaster mufflers, motor redone 5000kms ago, also new battery, shocks and metallic paint job, $4000ono.
Does anyone have any experiance with driving a 5.0 in winter, also should the Aod last for a while since it wasn't rebuilt with the motor? So what would I need to make it driveable in the winter(I know I might get flamed for this) Also what would my gasmilage most likely be like based on your experiances with your own stangs. Thanks in advance because I know I will get some excellent responses from you guys.

hm... i drove mine thru winter, they dont plow my road either, i was sideways at 5mph, but if u can drive, and no offence, at 16, you cant, its fine in the winter as it sits... but i say throw some ice/winter tires on it, somethin heavy in the trunk, and be very easy on it and youll be fine
as for milage ~16-20

yeah its a challange just throw some snow/studded tires on there and you will be fine. i drove mine in the winter hell i learned how to drive mine in the snow and i must say i was a damn good driver at 16-17
I'm 16 and I drive mine in the winter, just gotta be careful. No matter what you're gonna be sliding all over the place, which is usually fun, except when you can't control it[&:]
Do what they said, snow tires, lots of weight in the back, easy on the skinny pedal. I was drivin on stock tires, no weight in the back and I managed with a 5spd, you aughta do alright.

Keep the response comming I really have a tough desion to make. So how is the gas milage, I know this isn't the most economical car ever made or something. To me it seems being constantly broke would be worth it so i could drive a 5.0. I really need some opinions to help me make my choice.
for a first winter car.. i highly discourage buying a 5.0 foxbody.. especially an automatic.
u need a manual 5 speed to learn on then buy a mustang in the summer.. unless u wanna crash/slideout alot
i was goin up my street at like 2 mph (in the snow) and all of a sudden rear end slides out and bam slapped a little wall. luckily only took a molding off thankgod.
first time i ever came to close to ****tin my pants in the stang lol
