Default '83 GLX W/5.0

Hi there. I'm considering picking up an '83 GLX convertiblewith aCobra 5.0 4VC H.O. 66K miles. $3950 OBO.

Following is all new:
5 Spd trans, suspension, oil pan, Holley 4 barrel, paint, leather upholstry, flowmaster mufflers, catalytic converters, stainless steelexhaust &tail pipes, convertible top.

It looks great but I'm not sure how the GLXs handle compared to the GTs. Are they softerand if so how easy would it be to do a simple suspension mod?

Thanks.

I had an 83 GLX 3.8 it handled pretty good for a stocker. I did put my old 5.0 LX rear springs in it and added the 5.0 front and rear sway bars. It made a big improvement. You can do any of the fox body suspension mods to it depending on how much you want to spend and how much you want to change the ride

Yeah I just might have to jump on this one before someone else does. This car looks like it's been gone through fairly well. You don't see many cars this old that have been more or less rebuilt/restored from the ground up for under 4K. It's very clean.

Another question. Is the Cobra engine an upgrade from the regular 5.0 H.O. What are the specs?

Thanks.

No such animal. I'd check the Vin and make sure it's an orignal 5.0 and not a swap. Otherwise, you'll have 6 cylinder brakes, suspension and rear end.

If it is a TRUE Cobra motor it is a transplant and yes much better than a standard 5.0. But chances are it is just a built up 5.0 because you said it has a 4bbl carb. They did offer the 5.0 in the GLX but there where not many, the majority of 83 GLX's where 3.8 V6 cars. Most 83 5.0 convertibles are GT's. I would check VIN to see what motor it was originally equiped with.
