Default Water Temperature Gauge

The water temp. gauge stopped working on my 87 5.0 GT. Where do I start & what do I look for?

Ground the wire from the sensor (sending unit, it's located in the right front corner of the intake as you're facing the engine from the front. kinda behind diagonally to the right of the distributor. If that makes any sense. It's just 1 wire. )and see if the gauge moves to hot. if t does, you have a bad sending unit. If not, you may have a wiring/gauge issue.

Get rid of the POS stock gauge and pick up an autometer 4337 and a nice autometer a pillar gauge pod. GREAT investment, my stock onestarted going nutty on me. I decided to get rid of it for a REAL gauge and now it works perfect and I can actually see what temperature it's running at. Both of my Autometer gauges are wired to light up when the driving lights and headlights are on and they are highly visible.
