yea see i would do that and all sept i hate the 2.95 1st gear... i like the 3.35... if my rebuild that i did doesnt work out... i think ill just buy from ddperformance

hell I've seen STOCK 5.0s break STOCK T5s


I broke the stock T5 in my stock S10 with a 125 hp 2.8 v6.
Theyre not that great of a tranny.

I have no idea what I did to it. I took it apart but didnt have a clue as to what I was looking at. My guess is that something got bent.
It would get stuck between 3rd and 4th and Id have to unbolt the shifter and knock something around with a prybar to get it unstuck.
I drove it for 3 months without using 3rd until I found another tranny for it (I was too broke to get it fixed).

Im thinking the damage was caused by powershifting and using the truck like a one ton hauling stuff.

They are 2 different t5's. They are weaker in every aspect: case, input shaft, gears, etc.

I like the 2.95 with 3.73 rear. It doesn't fel any slower on take off but you get another 5mph out of first, plus 5th is .63 so i tach less on highway

see what i dont like about that is where you pass thru the traps w. that set up.... if i got a trans w. a 2.95 id have to get 3.90s or something. buddy of mine had 3.73s and the 2.95 1st gear, and he had to shift to 4th right before the traps..... then again, if i were spraying, i would be higher up in 4th....

i dunno, hopefully itll be in tomorrow, but i think putting in the trans is getting put off untill next weekend now.... just a few more things to be certain about and make sure i did right.

still havent had a problem with mine at all. then again i bought the best one before a g-force t-5 that they had. i have ground 2nd gear a couple times...thanks to my gf grabbing my arm as im doing a burn out and just messing me up completely. other than that the trans has been perfect not a problem. once the break in was done i put the gm syncromesh in and it got even better.
