New Stang
I am currently hunting for a 94 5.0. I am aware of the classifieds, that is not my question. See i am currenty in Iraq and can't visibly see the car that i m buying and frankly don't know that much about the mustang yet. I am a new enthusiest. ( used to run Imports) I know enough abuout cars to get me by but i was wondering if there where any tell talke signs of a beater. Or if there are any common issues that i should be aware of before choosing. Thank you

RE: New Stang
A couple of things to look for when you go to buy a stang (or car in general)
-look down the car to see if the body panels/lines match
-Carfax(a life saver)
-look at the interior-if its worn and torn/faded usually give you a good indication about how the car was drivin
-turn the ignition on-and go through the presets of the radio (most of the time this will tell you what kind of person was driving the car)
-stay away from cars with rust/rot
thats about all i can think of for now

RE: New Stang
Most 5.0's are ridden hard and put away wet......but there are alot of them out there that have not been beaten that are usually adult owned and are in good shape....look at the engine bay for cleanliness/ maintainence items, look at the over all body condition......but best thing to do is take it in to a shop before buying it and pay for a state inspection and a general pre purchase inspection.....I'd rather waste a little on the inspection cost then be sunk into it head over heals after I find out later I bought a lemon....also look to see if the check engine light is on and don't accept a "oh it just needs an o/2 sensor from the owner......biggest load of dog du du I always hear when looking to buy a new car from private owners......anyway if the car looks decent then take it to a shop for inspection and reference the asking price to a place like KBB.COM Now remember kbb just gives you an idea of worth....it by no means is the god of price setting....if that were the case my 85 stang would be pointless to sell as kbb can't account for performance parts added or non stock components that obviously add value to a cars final asking price..
