I’m pretty sure my alternator is garbage, but I wanted to double check with you guys before I bought anything. My car will not start unless it is jumped. The car will than die after a few minutes. The three times it died I was at low rpm's (stopped at a light/stop sign). Ithas a new battery. Could this be anything other than an alternator? Will I need to buy another new battery even though it is new? How much do new alternators go for? Thanks for the help. I want my car on the road as fast as possible. It’s very depressing staring at it in the garage.

 

oem replacement alts are 70-80 bucks. you need the new wire harness for warrenty which is 10-15. and you want to replace it otherwise you car might catch on fire down the road later on.

i suggest since your alt is currently trash you upgrade to the 3G alt. you can pick up up fairly cheap and there is a very good write up in the tech section with pictures on how to do the swap, very simple.
