I have the same issue. The rubber piece was missing off the striker so I replaced it. Now there are still issues and I'm thinking of replacing the hatch lock area itself. Gotta slam it down for now which makes my review view mirror fall off...LOL

the hatch on my 86' stang rattles like a mother to. I bought new rubber stoppers cause one omy mine was missing. (rockauto.com) but it still rattles and the latch is adjusted all the way. I think a hinge might be worn out near the top of hatch.

fixed it. Got new weatherstripping and moved the striker pin up with a star racket. Works perfectly.

Thanks guys
