fuel pump issue
hello new to forum...I am having a weird problem..after replacing the fuel pump in the gas tank I noticed the car still doesnt run...I remove the fuel pump and when i switch the key to run there is power to the pump and i hear it run BUT it runs in reverse...I know it sounds weird but I took the fuel pump out of the tank and tested it at my bench with 12v. The pump worked pumping fuel out of it...I hook it to the red connector on the gas tank and it makes the pump run in reverse instead of sucking fuel up and pumping out it pushes air back into the gas tank and is making the gas bubble...I am lost with this one...1990 GT...checked and replaed the usual relay under the seat...I didnt replace the one in the kick panel as I didnt know which bankof wires was the relay...anyone please help....
yeah, sounds like you reveresed the wires on the pump assembly on top of the tank.. Try not to break the plastic clips getting them out again, but if you do, you can use a thick zip tie to put them back in place..all they do is keep the end of the line from slipping back off of the inlets.. a thick zip tie on tight will work just as well to hold it from slipping over the flanges.
