dont bother with the felpro gasket kit you get at a local part store... ill re-post in a few with a full list if the gaskets you SHOULD run
Hey Adder, I'm not saying this to start an arguement, so don't take it the wrong way, OK? But I think theFel Pro kit isgood. I used that kit when I restored my black Capri (in sig. below) That was7 years ago and not one leak to this day... not even a small one anywhere. I have a shoe box full of time slips from beating the snot out of the car, so it gets used really hard. Aside from head gaskets, I believe it's not so much the gasket you chose, but how well you prep the surfaces that the gasket goes on that keeps it from leaking. Knowing where/how/what type/how much sealer with gaskets is very important too. You can recommend buying a bunch of different higher quality gaskets to the original poster, but I think it will cost more for no reason. My Capri is proof enough for me that the Fel pro kit will do just fine... get a good set of head gaskets and header gaskets and all the other stuff that comes in the kit is very reliable.
you make a valid statement, but you have left out the obvious one... Price!
I work for a part store, so I price things daily. The full engine kit itself does not come with the oil pan gasket, or the intake manifold gaskets.. so you end up buying the entire engine kit for $100, then the IM gaskets for another ~$25, and the oil pan gasket gor another ~$25.. so in the end, you spend $150

why not buy everything seperate and save almost $50

Still keeping this nice and not trying to make you look stupid... but, LOL. Price WAS my point! You listed only 5 gaskets above that total to $125.78... and I bought a Felpro kit for $196.00 at A&A (part# 2292070) for the motor rebuild onthe white car picturedin my signatureand this is what it came with. (BTW, oil pan and intake gaskets WEREincluded)

1. head (nice set if you're not going with a blower/turbo/nitrous)
2. intake (upper and lower)
3. exhaust headers
4. valve covers
5. oil pan
6. timing cover
7. water pump
8. thermostat housing
9. oil pump
10. fuel pump
11. air bypass valve
12. front seal
13. rear seal
14. ditributor "O" ring
15. oil drain plug seals
16. valve stem seals

All that... a complete kit from Felpro for $196.00 that will last at least 7 years with no leaks if installed properly. (my car is proof) You can not beat that with a stick. I stand by what I said in my first post.

The kit is nice and comes in very handy, but I haven't had the best experience with cork gaskets. With the kits I have gotten, I will still get the rubber 1 pc pan gasket and the rubber VC gaskets seperatley. (Ford is my first choice then Fel-Pro)

I have never been, and will never be a fan of cork gaskets.

the fact that the kit you listed capri.. has not only a 4 piece oil pan gasket.. with cork, Cork valve cover gaskets, and cork lifter valey gaskets... makes me not want it.

and again capri... remember that my posts was based on my 94 cobra... felpro kit number KS2370

Fel Pro Kit Gasket Set Int. manifold gskts. not incl. use MS 95952; One-piece molded rubber oil pan gskt. not incl. use OS 30615R; Premium valve stem seals incl.

Like I said... I do this stuff on a daily basis... my way, is the better way

and cork lifter valey gaskets...
Thats right... I forgot about those...
It's funny because when you buy the IM gasket set seperately, you get rubber ones with a lip that holds them in place.
I would just get what you need seperatly, as there will be alot left over that you're prolly not going to use.

On a side note, I don't like the Fel Pro timing cover gaskets because of how the stick out in some areas like right above the timing cover... (I guess you can always cut the rest of them off with a razer after they've been installed)

I trimmed my timing cover gasket before I installed it... just line up all the bolt holes, then go over it with a pen.... cut it out with scissors
