Default D80E lash caps

[align=left]I have just re-assembled the engine(d8ae-ba i belive) in my 67 only to find that i am missing one of the exhaust valve lash caps. Aside from going on a long junk yard adventure, i was wondering where i might be able to find a set of the right sized caps. I tried Summit, Jegs, MU, MD, and various other sites but to no avail. They seem to be a very elusive little part(no pun intended). I have tried to install the rocker w/o the cap but it just wont do, its all sloppy and loose.

The thing is i have a very confusing engine. The code on the manifold says its a d8ae-ba which is a 79 302(if im not mistaken) and the heads are i belive "H.O. performance" D80Es, and only the exhaust valves have the lash caps. The stems measured out to 1/4" or 7mm and the only caps i can find in that size is for a 4.6 SOHC. I keep telling my car "you will be on the road soon" (yes i talk to my car...)

That would be a 78 part number not 79 and to my knowledge there was nothing performance about 78 heads as those were the years of the decline of performance of the muscle cars if any still were to be called such[:@]but post a pic I have alot of old valvetrain stuff sitting around and may have what you need

Yes im very much aware of how horrible my enine is. i belive it was rated at 190bhp. i think im just gona go on a junk yard adventure, i just wana hear it run, the exhaust leaks make it loud heh. i eventualy wana get Edelbrock heads a super-duty T-5 for it and a whole bunch of other goodies that will make nice HP. darn jap cars and thier toy turbos!!!
