Default Roll cage Requirements

arethe requirements for roll cages different from track to track or is there a generic standard that everyone uses. While i have my car apart (see signature) should i put one in just to be safe. or do those who have similar set ups know whether i would need one at this point.

Would this suffice or is there something to be said for pure custom?

So is it fair to assume that all tracks follow that guideline. even with the variety of governing bodies?

They have all for the most part standarized so far as safety requirements yes. IHRA has the same cage rules, it's something your never going to get around.

You are legal with a "roll bar" i.e. six point for a pretty good stretch. The problems I see people have is planning on E.T.'s above the needs of 8pt or better, then getting themselves into a situation where they need more cage. LEt me warn you ahead of time, most reputable cage builders will not add on to a stor bought cage. The MOST CRITICAL procedure for a cage is setting the main "hoop". Not to mention that the Diameter sizes will change with the point#'s. My advice to most folks is shop out a REPUTABLE cage and chassis shop in your area, and get a quote on your desired cage, theywill tell you if they know what they are doing what the best route to go is based on your plans for the car.

Just my opinion, but this stems from having a few cages installed and certified over the years. And having your cage Cert'ed is where the rubber meets the road. Basically once I had my last cage installed (10pt Chromoly on my last 93, there was a cert day arranged through my cage builder with about 5 cars needing certs) it was all pre-arranged and went smooth. I needed a cage that would allow sub-9 (to 8.50 with firewall intact). So I have been through it before.
