my 88 has it, good thing too because the gauge itself reads whatever it feels like reading, so I put gas in when the light comes on, LOL.[8D]

i got it. i have all the gauges too. fuel. tach, speed, temp, oil pressure, volts. one thing i don't get is everyone i know who ever had one of these cars says their oil light would come on when they get a quart low. mine never did, but the the light does come on the display at start up so i know the bulb isn't burned out. it doesn't come on when i reach a quart low in my 03 mach either.
The oil light monitors pressure, not volume. Shouldn't be coming on if you're down a litre because that shouldn't affect the pressure enough to trigger the light. You have to check the dipstick to monitor the oil volume.

My '89 may have had one but it never came on. Not even when I hit red.
