Newbee with a cam question.

Newbee with a cam question.
Hi to all,
Has anyone run the F303 cam? This looks like a great cam for a mild 5-speed car. Most B303 cam cars are slower than when they had the stock cam. It has too narrow of a powerband. I read of many cars that have either the B or E cams, but haven't really heard any real world input about the F303.
This will be going in a 88 5.0 LX HB with a mild 306 with ported E7TE heads(for now), with a T-5 and 3.55 gears. This car has been converted to MAF. I did it using parts from a friends wrecked 89lX so it has the good computer (A9L). It also has MAC 1 5/8 nickel plated shorties with a 2.5" off-road H-pipe, 40 series Flowmasters, and the smog pump deleted. When I had a 100hp NOS kit on it it ran 7.96 @86.9mpg in the 1/8 mile with a 1.72 60ft. This is on the stock engine which is still in the car now and running strong @ 161K. It has a FMS clutch kit and frame connectors on it as well.
Thanks,
Jimmy

RE: Newbee with a cam question.
ya i would try and get a comp cam... have something made specifically for your car, it will work a lot better then a letter cam.......trust me i have the E303 and i hate it (but am waiting to build the engine before i change cams)

RE: Newbee with a cam question.
Letter cams are single pattern cams that were made twenty years ago. With stock heads they are not the best, Ford is bad about the exhaust ports so you need more lift and uration on the exhaust. If you really want the F cam, with the Trick Flow heads it won't be so bad but I would go with a Trick Flow cam if nothing else.

OK, Thanks
By the way, what did you do to lighten your car? My 88 LX HB weighs 3180, 3380 with me in it. It is all there, even the spare tire. I even have manual windows, but power locks?

RE: Newbee with a cam question.
Cool, I have since remove the smog pump and plumbing. I have some Prime 5 stars on it, but they probably weigh about the same as the original 10 hole wheels. One day I will have the aluminum heads as well so that should lighten it up some more. But I have gained 20lbs since then. My race weight used to be 3160[:@] Oh well, I bought it new and the paint still shines good. Now the 1/4 window trim is another matter[sm=badidea.gif]
