sorry for asking a probably stupid question just making sure i understand this correctly after the mufflers take out the tailpipes and just put tips that turn down? will that sould better?
If your exhaust is still fairly new just remove the tailpipes. That way if you dont like the way it sounds you can put them back on. Cause if you cut them you would have to rig something up for it.

Turning the ends so they face down is called dumping the exhaust where im from. Not sure what everyone else calls it. But it basically works like sub's in your car or truck. The more sound bounces the deeper it gets or something like that. Had a guy explain it to me years ago. I did it on my last mustang and the sound lots deeper and louder.

Hollowing ou thte cats actually creates backpressure from the gasses swirling around in there. Sounds kinda funny too. As long as your car doesn't have a rotted out bottom, most of the exhaust should stay out. I would actuall put the turn downs at about a 45 degree angle. They would look like this from the rear of the car / \

Those will work. Some have more of a bend in the pipe. I would use these. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

Get a local shop to bend you some, should be a lot cheaper, IMO.

dumping the exhausst does sound great. I just did it last week on mine with 40 series flows. I did not put turn down tips on mine. i don't notice any fumes it all inside the car. But if you stand behind thecar... well thats a different story.
