It has begun...
My MGW shifter finally came in the mail! Once I get a chance to install it my car will no longer be 100% stock . Looks like yet another Mustang owner has fallen victim to the modding virus.
Anyone have any tips for when I go to install this? The instructions are very detailed and neat and they cover everything very well but is there anything I may need to keep an eye out for?

should just be a old one out..new one in..check the cup the ball rides in make sure its not worn...lol dont crossthread the bolts ..umm idk lol should be fairly simple...set the stops ..probably have to trim some of the rubber off the lower dust boot to fit around it...its normal for this to need to be done with shortthrow installs....

Yeah I'm not worried about the difficulty. Should be fairly straightforward.
About the stops, I'm going to use them because to my knowledge (and the instructions also say this) only the T3650 and T56 have internal stops. The T-5/T-45 don't.

Hmmm, interesting. I have always heard that the T-5s didn't. I did just read the manual again and it doesn't specifically say that. It says "Most modern transmissions made by Tremec have internal stops (Most notably the T56 and 3650)...". The part in parenthesis was was got me.I'm going to have tolook into itmyself I guess [&:].

I just got it installed, must have been the easiest thing I have ever done when working on a car. The funny thing was that I have heard so many people say how hard their stock shifters were to get off, but mine practically popped off itself when I undid the bolts. I grabbed the little "stump" before putting the handle back on just to see how tough it wasand the thing popped off so easily I almostlaunched it out the door and into the car parked next to me! It could be because of the low amount of miles I have on the car.
So then I drove it and... Holy crap the difference is amazing compared to the stock shifter! The shifts are noticeably shorter than the stock ones but not super short, which I like. It's so firm and feels so solid now though I love it! I still have to do some more driving before I'm totally used to it but I did get on it a little a few times and it shifts great.

www.mgwltd.com I haven't seen them for sale anywhere else (except ebay and stuff) so I think you can only order them direct.
